Brittany (Dancer) has always felt she was born to be a dancer. At the age of 7, Brittany joined Archangels of Youngstown, OH where she did Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Tap dancing. Ms. Connor found her passion for dance in the world of hip hop and she moved on to join Jones Academy of Niles, OH where she participated in several dance performances, and competitions often placing in second and first place with her team. She has also danced with Monsters of Hip Hop with her team and as an individual competitor. Miss. Connor has always loved the world of dance. While receiving her Bachelor’s degree at Wittenberg University in Biology she picked up dancing with the University’s dance team. Brittany is thrilled to be joining Xclaim for her second year and is looking forward to what it has to bring.
Nia (Dancer) has had an affinity for dance from an early age. She found her outlet through participating in dance team, show choir and musical theater. Nia began her technical training through Otterbein University in 2010. She is currently a student at The Ohio State University, pursuing a degree in International Relations with minors in Dance and Spanish. Her past performances include roles as a featured dancer in 12 musical productions including Children of Eden, Grease, High School Musical, Beauty and the Beast, and Footloose. At Ohio State Nia has studied jazz, modern, choreography, movement analysis and dance education. She is very excited dance again with Xclaim for her third season. Nia would like to thank her mother, friends and family for encouraging her passionate pursuit of dance.
Corrine (Dancer) Corinne began dancing at the age of 8 as a part of church dance ministry. In 2010 she started training at Leaps of Faith Christian Dance Company in the art of ballet. Her interests in dance grew as she took more classes such as: Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Modern and Pointe. Beginning in 2011 and every year since she has participated in CBN's Rosh Hashanah telecast with Messiah Dance Company. Corinne attended "Vertical Movement" Workshop in 2013-2014 where she was introduced and fell in love with contemporary movement. She has been teaching Ballet and Hip-Hop at Leaps of Faith Christian Dance Company from 2015-2017. Also in 2015 she portrayed the role of Rosalia in Ohio University Lancaster's production of "West Side Story", encouraging her love for Musical Theater. Corinne is excited to be starting her first season with Xclaim.
Brandia (Dancer) earned dual Bachelors of Arts in Human Kinesiology & Dance from Wittenberg University where she participated in study abroad at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. Dance has always been an integral part of her life, as she trained in various styles including ballet with Lee Edwards and Shir Lee Wu. Brandia also competed in Latin Ballroom with Bill Sparks Youth Ballroom DanceSport Academy (YBDSA) where she became a student teacher. During her time at Wittenberg, she formulated a workshop/demonstration for collegiate dancers to learn about injury prevention through cross training. Most recently, Brandia completed her Masters in Sports Science at Hofstra University, where she was able to combine her passions for dance, education, and medicine into a culminating project focusing on injury prevention for youth ballet dancers. Additionally, she was blessed with the opportunity to learn about dance administration while working at Peridance Capezio Center, taking classes from Sonya Tayeh, Kat Wildish, Jon Ole Olstad and others. Brandia is pursuing her career as a preventative medicine physician who will treat patients incorporating lifestyle modifications, beginning her training with Ohio University’s post baccalaureate program this fall. This is Brandia's second season with Xclaim, and she is elated to perform.
Brett (Dancer) began his movement training in Bellefountaine Ohio where he attended Gloria's Tumbling for 9 years and was on a competitive team for 7 of those years. He then studied dance under the instruction of Lindy Chiles and taught an all boys hip hop class. Brett has attended various Master Classes in New York City to hone his craft. In 2011 Brett performed in the Orange Bowl Half Time Show, and was pictured in Bowl Games of America Magazine. Brett's natural ability and passion for dance are undeniable. He has been teaching dance for 6 years. Since 2013 Brett has shared his passion for dance with students as an instructor at eXtreme Dance Center in Wapakoneta, Ohio. This is his third season to take the stage with Xclaim!
Alyssa Elaine Nicholson
Alyssa (Dancer) graduated from the University of Akron in 2014 with her Bachelor of Arts in Dance. She has been teaching for dance 10 years, with a passion for choreography. Her years of dance experience have taught her many styles, but her joy is in the foundation of Ballet and Modern. She has danced with the University of Akron Dance Company and the New Vision Dance Company located in Westerville, Ohio. Her ultimate goal is to receive her Masters in Choreography, so that she can teach at a collegiate level, and eventually start her own dance company. Alyssa is excited to dance with Xclaim for her first season.
Ashley (Dancer) earned her B.A. in Dance from Belhaven University in 2016. Originally from Florida, she began her training at Orlando Ballet and Art from the Heart. Ashley has also lived in and studied dance in New York. After dancing for 13 years, training primarily in ballet, modern and jazz, she discovered a new found love for aerial arts. Over the years Ashley has trained under notable dance masters including: Ravenna Tucker, Mia Whitehead, Erin Rockwell, Emily Bower, Vince Hardy, Sharon Wary and Emily Wright. She has participated in master classes intensives and performed special works with Dramatic Truth, Ballet Magnificat, and the Alvin Ailey School. This is Ashley’s first season being a part of Xclaim.
Nikki (Dancer) has a background in hip hop movement. She often travels to Atlanta and Chicago to hone her skills. She has taught hip hop classes at the ML Dance Academy and Patty Beery's School of Dance. Her notable performance credits include: Performing with John Legend in the “Be About It” Event, Powerfest (power1075 future concert)2015, Park Street Fest 2016 and 2017, background dancer for local recording artists and with local hip hop groups Roman element, street angelz, and 3D urban dance crew. Nikki is excited to expand her dance knowledge to more classical forms. This is her second season joining the Xclaim stage!
Ella (Student Trainee) began dancing when she was 3 years old. An eighth grade homeschool student, she has studied dance at Ballet Academy of Moses Lake (Moses Lake, WA), Field of Dreams Performing Arts Conservatory (Raleigh, NC), Footsteps Family Dance Center (Columbus), BalletMet (Columbus) and most recently Charisma Center for the Arts. She has studied Classical Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Musical Theater and Tap. Ella has also attended Summer Intensive at BalletMet. She has had the opportunity to dance in several renditions of The Nutcracker including BalletMet (Angel), Field of Dreams (Party Girl, Ginger, and Clara), and Ballet Academy of Moses Lake (Angel, Ginger). Additionally, she has performed in BalletMets Sleeping Beauty (Garland Girl), Coppelia (Village Girl, BAML), Jewels (Ruby, BAML), and various seasonal performances at her church. She is grateful for the opportunity to be in the Student Trainee Program with Xclaim.
Grace (Student Actor / Guest Artist) is a homeschooled 8th grader with a passion for acting, baking, and all things Audrey Hepburn. This is Grace's debut performance with Xclaim. She has previously appeared in Witness for the Prosecution and as a lead in Murder Takes the Stage with Good For Youth Theater based in Worthington, Ohio. Through Good For Youth, she has studied under directors Joy Tolle and Tom Krizo. When Grace isn't studying or acting, she can be found baking either at home or at Our Cupcakery in Dublin. She is honored to be a part of the Xclaim family.
